RE: Smaller Class A sleeping 4 adults.

the only sofa that converts to a sleepable bed is a magic sofa bed from Bradd and Hall. certainly no standard jack knife will work, and any cheap sofa bed will need additional "help".

RE: Price on new Winnebago View

20% off doesn't sound like a steal to me. I would think that they are using that $4000 in lieu of further discount.

They are great! I think it's one of the best things we've put on our TT!
I can't say it better, so I won't.

RE: Central Wisconsin campground suggestions

We need to find a decent campground for an overnight on the way up to Minnesota after Labor Day. We'll be traveling along I-90/94 and would like to stop somewhere between Mauston and Sparta, not too far off the Interstate, if possible. We've stayed at the KOA in Oakdale, but it's gotten some bad reviews lately and we don't know about staying there again. Does anyone have any suggestions for that area? All replies will be appreciated.
Thanks!
Rita Baker
How was your previous stay at that campground? just remember that there are some folks here who will badmouth a KOA at the slightest provocation. bumpy :p

RE: Fireplace in TT

just buy a $5.95 fireplace DVD at WalMart and a $15.00 ceramic cube heater. it will take up less space, do the same job, and save you money. and as a bonus, the DVD will play carols at Christmas.

RE: any such thing as quiet time?

we could not close our windows and turn on the a.c. because we were following the "quiet time rules". what does working in a hospital at night have to do with following camping rules? they were rude and should not have been allowed into the campground at 1am.
I agree.

RE: utah camp grounds centraly located

I stayed at a KOA between bryce and zion. actually if you stop and look at an assortment of red rocks about half way to bryce, you can just turn around as you have seen it all. that and the view out the back of the RV park.

avoid a rubber roof. what do these two trailers have, rubber or TPO? In general, I feel Jayco's build quality is good.

RE: Fantastic fan vs a/c

OH, now the answer is obvious. buy a small dehumidifier. will pull out moisture and put in some heat. and if you ever are in hot/humid areas, the AC is what you should fill that hole with, if not, a maxxaire fan.

RE: Fantastic fan vs a/c

Bumpyroad I'm not sure what you mean. My thinking with the fan is we are wet when we return to the camper from skiing all day. So we'll turn the fan on and it should suck the moisture out of the camper because of the air movement. Last year we had a small fan plus open windows and it helped. We just couldn't get enough air movement.
OK I assume you are talking about water skiing? or if snow skiing could you even use an AC then? if the area is low humidity your fan would pull moisture off your body, but an AC would lower the humidity if needed. If you are talking about water skiing, why not just use a towel and the AC? Pulling humid air past you wont be very "refreshing" IMHO.

RE: Holding Tanks and Treatment

99% of the time if you have problems its because of to much tp, not enough water, or a combination of both.
chemicals are unnecessary. the tanks will produce their own bacteria which is more than capable of doing the job. the only time i use any chemicals is in hot climates for odor control.
OK! That is fine with me. I can see some don't care if they stink up the neighborhood when dumping or if the black tank plugs up. They would rather use a fishline so that is fine also.
Lets close this thread that I started, it is a waste of time to try and help. Once the negative comments start coming in, it is best to close it up.
just because everyone doesn't think that happy camper is the greatest thing and not necessary does not make a thread useless. and as Sully pointed out, the black tank is just a temporary holding tank, not a septic tank. I don't go that long between dumping my black tank for it to work like a septic tank.

RE: Fantastic fan vs a/c

We stay in the camper about 35 nights a year and need help getting rid of moisture. I think the fan will help us do that. Below are 3 options I'm think about. I'm leaning towards the 4000 with the 800 vent cover. That way I have something over the fan that protects the fan from bitter cold blowing snow.
http://www.adventurerv.net/fantastic-vent-model-4000-white-p-180.html
http://www.adventurerv.net/maxxair-fan-mate-fanmate-cover-model-400-p-192.html
http://www.adventurerv.net/maxxair-fan-mate-fanmate-cover-model-800-p-111.html
http://www.adventurerv.net/maxx-air-turbomaxx-all-weather-ventilator-model-3505-therm-p-1675.html
This one would work. I'm just not sure if the fan is protected from the elements.
http://www.adventurerv.net/maxx-fan-maxxair-volt-ventilation-system-white-camper-p-1023.html
I don't think this will work because the vent could become frozen or jammed because of the snow and ice.
to get rid of moisture are you talking about shower type or humidity. a fan wont do anything for humidity.

RE: First Time Buyer

tri axle? your truck probably won't be adequate. why not post the specs on that truck of yours that "will pull anything"?
bumpy
How can you say his truck "probably won't be adequate" when you have zero info on his truck? For all you know the kid could have a class 8 HDT sitting in the driveway. And by the way, he said his truck will pull anything "that he could afford" not "anything." The guy was asking an honest question about an RV issue, not soliciting your smarta$$ comments and baseless opinions.
Usually I just shake my head at stupid posts like yours, but this time I had to say something. If you don't have something useful to add to help the guy out, why not just move along to the next thread?
and I just shake my head at stupid posts like yours. why didn't this guy post what his truck was in the first place. saying it will pull all that he can afford is a silly statement IMHO. almost like he was avoiding the weight police.

RE: Yes it's a 4th nooby question, dumping at site etiquette?

The Flowjet pump runs on 12v. But the pump is only necessary if you have to pump some distance or up hill. I use the water powered Sewer Solution on a full service site.
Saving me two hours at the end of a weekend NOT standing in line qualified the purchase for me. Yeah it takes me some time to pump out at home, but I can get the tank very clean.
-- Chuck
yep I used to use a sewer solution and when I broke that bought a macerator pump. mine does not have a grey water bypass and that is inconvenient. but a sewer solution would be best at a full service site, not a public dump.
and not having that huge, filthy stinky slinky to deal with is "priceless". much easier to put away a piece of garden hose than a 3 inch slinky. somebody previously posted how to make a home made sewer solution which I copied and made two of them with slight modifications.
